The Deadline Story

Once Upon A Deadline is a Robert Mac creation, started after he realized one day that a great deal of his time was spent meeting deadlines in cafes, bookshops and everywhere else power outlets are found. The process felt like a marathon with nary a finish line in sight or appreciative supporters to cheer him on his way. This prompted him to invent a way to bring writers and readers together to celebrate the noble and sometimes arduous quest of writing.

In October 2005, the first Once Upon A Deadline hit the streets of Sydney, Australia with eight writers, nine locations and ten allotted hours. Since then, Deadline has expanded into the festival circuit starting with the New Zealand International Arts Festival, and future plans to turn the spotlight on teen and young adult writers with Once Upon a Teen Deadline.

Robert has since teamed up with fellow writer and deadline aficionado K. Emily Bond, and formed FrontRider, Inc..
